Department of Philosophy

The Dept. of Philosophy, like many other departments of the Humanities group, was also established since the very beginning along with the establishment of the college, though this subject was allowed to be taught at the Intermediate course in a different name i.e. Logic but in a normal course when this subject was taught at the Degree level, the department was started to be called — The Dept of Philosophy.
This Department has been offering an honours course since 2005under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University from 2013 onwards. Though much younger as an Honours-teaching department,it offers remedial coaching classes, tutorial classes as principal modes of instruction in addition to traditional class lectures. Over the last five years, the Department has maintained a pass percentage of over 90%. The department has a small but useful departmental library. The Department also organizes one-day seminars for the development of teachers and students alike.
