Department of Sanskrit PG

Department of Sanskrit exists since the very beginning, as in the very initial permission letter of the D.P.I. dt. June 28, 1948, this subject was allowed to be taught at the Intermediate course and in a normal course at the Degree level later on. Though a much older department in the college, teaching permission of Vidyasagar University for Honours course in this subject/discipline has been introduced in the academic session 2005-2006.
The post-graduate course has been started in the Department of Sanskrit from 2013 onwards and has been running with great success ever since. The course is conducted in a semester system comprising of P.G. I, P.G. II, P.G. III & P.G. IV, spread over two years. The results, since 2013, show a fair number of students securing first class and the number is certainly on the rise. The Department aims at initiating a Spoken Sanskrit course from the next academic session.
